Orioles Pummel Pirates For Second Straight Night, 7-1
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- It was another rough night for the Pittsburgh Pirates in Baltimore, as they lost to the Orioles, 7-1.
Baltimore bats belted five runs off of Pirates starter Kevin Correia in six innings on 10 hits.
Chris Davis started the scoring for the Orioles in the first inning with an RBI double to left field for a 1-0 lead. Wilson Betemit hit an RBI double in the second and former Pirate Steve Pearce added an RBI single for a 3-0 lead after two innings.
In the fourth, Betemit drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to right field, and he tallied his third RBI of the game in the sixth inning with a solo home run to right for a 5-0 advantage.
Pittsburgh had a prime opportunity to climb back into the game in the seventh inning with the bases loaded and just one out. However, all the Buccos could muster was one run on a Neil Walker ground out.
Andrew McCutchen grounded out to end the inning, and the Pirates trailed, 5-1.
Davis put the game well out of reach in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run home run off Pittsburgh reliever Tony Watson for a 7-1 lead.
