Only Few Tickets Left For Pa. Lottery's Millionaire Raffle Saturday
CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- If you haven't bought your Pennsylvania Lottery Millionaire Raffle ticket yet, you don't have much time.
Less than 20,000 tickets are left of the half-million originally put up for sale.
"Our Millionaire Raffle is incredibly popular with our players," Lottery spokesperson Gary Miller told KDKA money editor Jon Delano on Thursday.
"We first started offering it in 2005," he said. "We've offered 16 raffle games since -- this is our sixteenth -- and all 15 of our past Millionaire Raffles have sold out."
At a Sheetz in Cranberry, Fourth of July customers were buying multiple raffle tickets at $20 a pop.
"Yeah, I buy four of them. I think it's the best chance to win," said Randy Corcio of Conway.
Four players will win a millionaire dollars; four others will win a $100,000; 100 players will win a $1,000 -- and nearly 5,900 will win a $100.
The chances of winning a million bucks is one out of 125,000, while the chances of winning something -- $100 or more -- is just one out of 83.
Many share the hope of winning.
"Hopefully, that dream will come through, hopefully, and help out the seniors," said Rodney Zaliponi of Butler.
But even with better-than-usual odds, most players will lose, which is why some won't play.
"If I keep my $20, it's a 100 percent that I get to keep it and spend it on something else," said Melissa Whitten of Squirrel Hill, laughing.
True enough -- but for the 6,000 players who will win -- the winning tickets will be drawn at seven o'clock this Saturday evening, July 6.
