Online Sales Lead American Eagle To Move Distribution Center
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – More than 200 American Eagle employees will face changes in the next two years as the company plans to close its Warrendale distribution center.
The company announced Thursday that it would close the center in two years to accommodate growing business online, our news partners at the Post-Gazette report.
Instead, the work will go to a new distribution center in Luzerne County, the newspaper reports.
The company plans to help employees make the move out to the new facility or to one in Kansas. But, if they choose not to move, will have at least 18 months to find a new job, says the Post-Gazette.
Officials with American Eagle Outfitters tell the newspaper that online business has continued to grow and accounts for 15 percent of sales.
