Online Retailers Offer Cyber Monday Deals
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- After all that rushing around on Black Friday and small business Saturday, shopping online this Cyber Monday seems perfect -- but if you're shopped out, online retailers have a plan.
"They're throwing all their salvos they can to make sure that people are aware and act on it," Point Park University Professor Paige Beal said.
Cyber Monday broke a billion dollars in sales last year. Professor Beal says people have learned to shop at work.
"People are at work with pretty good broadband connections," she said. "It's a good time for them to surf and surf well."
But Cyber Monday is not over and everyone wants your dollars.
Over this Thanksgiving weekend, the average holiday shopper spent $400 -- but 38 percent of that, around $150, was already spent online.
So the question this Cyber Monday, are there any really special deals that will attract you to cyberspace in the next few hours?
"It's on Cyber Monday that we see retailers offering the best discounts, free shipping in some instances, and we also see promotion codes, coupons, and cash backs even," Andria Alexander with SimplyFrugalLiving.com.
Alexander posts deals on her website, SimplyFrugalLiving.com. Her recommendation is to shop through a website called Ebates.
"You can get cash back on just about every purchase that you make because Ebates features almost 1,200 retailers," she said.
Like five percent cash back on whatever you buy online at Walmart and the deals may not end at midnight.
"A few stores, Toys 'R Us and Walmart, are offering deals through the week – Cyber Week, they're calling it," Alexander said.
