Penn Hills Shooting Leaves 1 Man Dead

PENN HILLS, Pa. (KDKA) --- Allegheny County Police are investigating a fatal shooting Sunday night in Penn Hills.

Officers were called to the 200 block of Conestoga Road around 10:30 p.m. They found one person inside a home who had been shot. That person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as Kevin Trowery, 54, of Penn Hills.

A man at the scene early Monday morning told KDKA-TV's Amy Wadas that Trowery was his younger brother. He said Trowery lived in the home with his wife and two children, who were not there at the time of the shooting.

It is believed that the incident started as a robbery.

Penn Hills Police had one person in custody for questioning.

"When [officers] arrived, they found one man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and encountered three individuals fleeing the home where the man was found. The officers gave chase and were able to apprehend one of those individuals," Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said.

That individual has been identified as 31-year-old Donald King, of Stowe Township. Police determined Monday afternoon that King was responsible for the murder. He is facing a number of charges, including criminal homicide and robbery. He has been lodged in the Allegheny County jail to await arraignment.

Police are looking for the other two men involved. They have been described as being black males wearing dark clothing. It is believed they fled toward Hochberg Road.

A white Lincoln Navigator was also towed from the scene.

"We believe the persons involved arrived in the vehicle and planned on using it to get away," Schurman said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Allegheny County Police at (412)-473-1300.
