1 Person In Custody Following Standoff In Brentwood
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One man is in custody following a lengthy standoff at a home in Brentwood Sunday night.
Police officers and the SWAT team were called to the 100-block of Beisner Avenue earlier Sunday evening where authorities believe they may have located a suspected bank robber. The standoff prompted authorities to close off several streets in that area.
KDKA's Ralph Iannotti reports that officials say that other than a dog, the man was alone inside the home.
No shots were fired, but a dozen tear gas canisters were reportedly fired into the home.
Investigators at the scene say they believe the man may be a suspect in the robbery of a Citizens Bank in Moon Township.
The robbery happened just after 12 p.m. at the bank inside of the Giant Eagle on University Boulevard.
According to authorities, the suspect was believed to be armed and got away with an undetermined amount of money.
Police say they also found a red stain in the parking lot from where they believe the dye pack exploded on the cash.
Some people who live in neighboring homes were being kept out of the area, but there were no evacuations. After the man was taken into custody, he was spotted being attended to in an ambulance.
Stay with KDKA for the latest details on this developing story.
