Officials: Man Dead After Fire In Sheraden
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead inside of a home today in Pittsburgh's Sheraden neighborhood.
Police and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office were called to the house in the 1200-block of Hillsboro Street this afternoon.
Investigators say a fire from a 3-foot Christmas tree started in the upstairs bedroom around 3 a.m.
Ron Baker, 54, and his wife, 41-year-old Ronnie Baker, woke up, put out the fire and went back to sleep.
"A woman woke up this morning and found the man in the bathtub, like I said – unconscious and ultimately fatally injured as a result of this incident," Pittsburgh Police Lt. Kevin Kraus said.
"They believe the fire had been adequately extinguished, they felt comfortable, they were cleaning up after it," Kraus said. "What happened after that – after she went back to bed – we're still trying to determine."
Police say the victim told his wife not to call 911 when the fire started and said he would take care of it.
