Officials Issue Second Alert After 4 More Overdose Deaths
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Four more overdose deaths in the past 24 hours have officials with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office on high alert.
On Friday, the medical examiner's office issued an alert to the public after three heroin overdose deaths over a period of 48 hours.
In each of those three cases, the medical examiner's office reports multiple stamp bags were found at the scene, including bags labeled "Theraflu."
Now, the Allegheny County Chief Executive's Office says there have been another four deaths over the last 24 hours in several different area neighborhoods.
According to the medical examiner's office, preliminary tests on the bags labeled "Theraflu" show they appear to contain the drug Fentanyl.
However, investigators are still awaiting the results of definitive testing.
