BNY Mellon Security Official Facing Child Pornography Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- An official with BNY Mellon is facing child pornography charges.

Duane Amity, 45, of Monroeville, is facing a charge of possession of child pornography following an investigation by the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office.

Videos and pictures of naked young girls, between the ages of 2 and 10, were allegedly found on Amity's home computer.

Amity, who is married and the father of two, is vice president of computer network security for BNY Mellon investment services.

In the criminal complaint obtained by KDKA-TV News, Amity told an investigator he never shared or distributed the images to anyone, viewed the images for his own benefit and never touched children in a sexual manner.

Amity said he needed counseling and the investigation, which led to charges, "was like a God send to me and my wife because exposing my interest in child porn was like a weight being lifted off my shoulders."

Now he said "he could talk about the problem with his wife, and they could deal with it."

According to the investigators, Amity admitted downloading images of nude underage females and then he would delete them.

He explained he did not know why the images were still on his computer.

The criminal complaint said Amity told the investigator from the DA's Office that he'd been looking at child porn for more than a decade. He could not explain why except that he claimed he himself was molested as a child.

Amity is out of jail on $25,000 bond awaiting a hearing in June.
