"Off The Ice" With Pens Forward Craig Adams
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pens forward Craig Adams joined The "Cook and Poni" Show in his regular weekly spot on the eve of taking on the Washington Capitals.
Adams says the rivalry between the Pens and Caps cooled off a bit over the past two seasons, but he thinks being back in the same division will help bring it back to where it used to be.
The Pens and Caps faced in each other in the 2009 Stanley Cup semis and it appeared that i was going to be the first of many meetings between the two teams on the way to the Cup finals, but it hasn't happened since.
"If you would have asked me back then, I would have said that we would have been back," Adams said. "It shows that it's not an easy thing to do. We have won a lot of games since then, but we have fallen short."
The goal of this Pens team is to get back to the Cup Finals this year, but their play as of late has been sloppy. It even caused Pens defenseman Rob Scuderi to rip the team on the recent road trip.
Adams said he has no issues with what Scuderi had to say.
"If we are being honest with ourselves, we haven't played great since the Christmas break," Adams said. He agrees that the team has been sloppy and hasn't taken care of the puck, but the hope is that they can use this extra time off in between games to clean up some stuff.
