NY Times Hockey Writer Talks Pens/Isles
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- The infamous brawling battle between the Penguins and the New York Islanders last season caused a stir around the hockey world. Tonight, the Penguins and Islanders will renew their rivalry on Long Island.
To preview, the Fan Morning Show caught up with New York Times hockey writer, and former Islander Public Relations Director, Chris Botta.
Chris doesn't think the game tonight will carry much hostility from last season because the Islanders don't consider this matchup a rivalry. That comes fromhead coach, Jack Capuano who said that until the Islanders contend for the playoffs in the way that the Penguins do, they cannot consider themselves a rival.
We also hear what is happening with the Islanders' quest to get a new building to stay on Long Island.
