NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – More storms are expected to move through the area Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Some of the storms could pack a decent punch, which has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of western Pennsylvania and parts of West Virginia and Maryland.

The watch has been issued for the following counties in Pennsylvania until 9 p.m.:

Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland.

A flood watch is also in effect for Allegheny County until 8 p.m. At 11 a.m., the Ohio River was at 19.3 feet. It is expected to rise near 20 feet by Friday morning.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for the following counties in West Virginia until 9 p.m.:

Monongalia and Preston.

There is also a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for Garrett County, Md. until 9 p.m.
