Nutri-Vet Chicken Jerky Products Recalled
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A number of Nutri-Vet products are being recalled because of possible salmonella contamination.
The company is voluntarily recalling 16 different products, including its "Chicken Breast Treats" and "Chicken Breast Strips."
The recall affects treats with Best By dates between April 20, 2014 and Oct. 3, 2014.
Salmonella potentially in the products can sicken animals, as well as humans who handle the food.
The FDA warns that animals infected with salmonella may appear lethargic and or experience diarrhea, fever and vomiting.
Nutri-Vet products included in the recall are:
- Nurtri-Vet K9 Natural Chicken Breast Treats in 5, 8 and 16-ounce packages.
- Nurti-Vet K9 Natural Chicken Breast Treats for: Joint Health (5 and 15oz), Glossy Coat (5 and 15oz), Stress and Anxiety (5 and 15oz), Fresh Breath, (5 and 15oz), Senior Dogs (5 0z), Healthy Digestion (5 oz) and Healthy Weight (5oz).
- Nurti-Vet K9 Natural Filet Strips in 16-ounce package.
- Nutri-Vet K9 Hip & Joint Chicken Breast Strips in 8-ounce package.
