Northway Mall To Undergo Major Renovation
ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Big changes are coming to the Northway Mall in Ross Township as it will be renovated and redeveloped.
LRC Realty, which is based in Akron, Ohio, purchased the mall two years ago. The group plans to change the name of the mall to Northway Collection.
The updated mall will include restaurants and shopping. Marshalls, Aldi, the Fox and the Hound and America's Best Contacts will all remain during construction.
Mama Luccia's Pizza has decided against renewing their lease and will be closing at the end of the year.
Some new tenants will also be moving in. So far, a list of new tenants hasn't been released.
Work is already underway for a new PetSmart location. It will be next to Marshalls, but will have its own entrance.
The mall plans to stay open during construction. The projects should wrap up in summer or fall of 2016.
The Northway Mall was first built in 1953. At that time, it was a strip mall, but was eventually converted to the Pittsburgh area's first indoor mall nine years later.
