North Side Salon Owner Hosting Thanksgiving Dinner For Less Fortunate
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A local hair stylist is giving back to the community in a big way.
On Thanksgiving Day, the lonely, the hungry and those down on their luck are invited to her salon on the North Side, not to get their hair done, but to sit down to a holiday dinner.
Mother Teresa said: "If you can't feed 100 people, then feed just one."
Robyn Greer hopes to feed a few more.
"We want to feed 50 or more. Right now, whoever comes, we will feed them," she says.
When Greer isn't feeding the less fortunate, the owner of an upscale salon on the North Side is styling hair.
"You never know what the Lord has planned for you. You never know," she says.
Greer gets her inspiration to open up her shop and her heart through her life's experiences.
She wrote a book entitled "Infected by Life" to help her heal after her 18-year-old son was killed, a victim of gang violence in 2007.
"Sometimes people get depressed and down throughout the holidays. I know I do losing my son," Greer said.

Dinner will be served from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at The Trevor James Experience salon at 519 East Ohio Street. Visit the salon's Facebook page here.
"We'll have a long couple of tables set up, food set up and they can come and eat and enjoy," Greer said.
Preparing the feast is the personal chef to several Steelers, Jasmine Smith.
She says she did not want to miss the blessing of helping others.
"The holidays are about a labor of love. You do what comes from the heart," she says.
