Nordstrom Rack Officially Coming To Old Northway Mall Site
ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- It's welcome news for fans of Nordstrom department store.
The company's off-price store, Nordstrom Rack, is opening its first location in our area in the fall of next year at the old Northway Mall.
It was 2008 when Nordstrom opened its first store in the Pittsburgh market at Ross Park Mall.
The Nordstrom Rack store will be nearby, across McKnight Road, and the company likes it like that.
"We like when there's opportunity to open a Nordstrom Rack near a Nordstrom store," said company spokesperson Naomi Tobis. "We find that customers like the convenience of shopping both."
Elaine Luther, a marketing professor at Point Park University says Nordstrom Rack stores are in demand.
"I was a looking on a blog where people were sending letters, 'Please put one in my town!' So I think it's a big deal throughout the country, and it's a good score for Pittsburgh," said Luther.
It's also a good score for Northway Mall, whose owners have big renovation plans.
Borders closed and Dick's Sporting Goods moved out, leaving some big empty spots. While other major new tenants have not been announced, the mall will have a new name: The Block Northway.
Nordstrom Rack will open in the fall of 2016 in a two-story space facing McKnight Road.
