NHL Network's Mark Recchi Talks Pens Injuries, Winter Classic
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Former Pittsburgh Penguin Mark Recchi joined The Fan Morning Show Friday to talk about all things hockey, including the Pens following their tough 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night at the CONSOL Energy Center.
Recchi commented on the Penguins' injury struggles.
"The last couple years have been crazy with the team," he said. "If it's not Sidney, they are losing three or four of their defensemen. It's tough to see. They've done a heck of a job with the guys who have been out there though."
Recchi will playing in Saturday's Alumni Game as part of the festivities ahead of this year's Winter Classic, which features the Flyers and the New York Rangers in Philadelphia.
Unlike last year's wet Winter Classic right here at Heinz Field, Recchi hopes the weather stays dry.
"It doesn't sound like we're going to get the rain here, which is good. Like last year [in Pittsburgh], that was the tough part was the rain," he said. "I actually have got to play in the Alumni Game [Saturday], so hopefully it holds up well and we get a good game in as well."
The retired three-time Stanley Cup winner also talked about his new gig on the NHL Network.
