NFL To Show Owners Video Of Clean Hits
NEW YORK (KDKA/AP) — Roger Goodell and the NFL have been enforcing a new hit policy for the past seven weeks and while some players seem to understand the new rule, others don't.
The NFL owners will be meeting in Dallas next week and the NFL will be showing those owners a video of what players have changed their play since the new policy has been in effect
NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Ray Anderson said the video "clearly shows players making adjustments" and that some former rule-breakers when it came to hitting defenseless players "have gotten the message."
No players have been suspended for illegal hits, but players have been fined from a range of $5,000 to $40,000. Steelers linebacker James Harrison has been fined a total of $125,000 for hits on defenseless wide receivers and quarterbacks.
Anderson warned, though, that "there should be no confusion" about suspensions being handed out if the fines are not enough of a deterrent.
