NFL On CBS' Jim Nantz Previews Jets-Steelers, Talks Making Madden 13
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- NFL on CBS play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz joined The Fan Morning Show on Thursday to preview the Steelers' Week 2 matchup with the New York Jets, which can be seen on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. on KDKA-TV.
He felt that the Steelers played much better against the Denver Broncos than the numbers suggest.
"The score was deceiving," he said, "31-19 sounds a lot different than what it really was."
He mentioned that he'd be surprised if Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis played following the star's mild concussion. Meanwhile, he said he expects Troy Polamalu and James Harrison to play despite their respective injuries.
He said it took six months to complete the needed work for "Madden 13," which he and his NFL on CBS broadcast partner Phil Simms will be calling for the first time. That work wrapped up around the time of the Final Four (which Nantz called), and work for "Madden 14" will actually start in the next few weeks.
He added that he and Simms put a priority on recording their commentary together, rather than separately.
He also discussed dipping his toes into the wine business.
