NFL Draft Day 3: Steelers' Picks
NEW YORK (KDKA/AP) – The Pittsburgh Steelers picked up right where they left off Friday night at the NFL Draft.
In the third round, the Steelers selected cornerback Curtis Brown from Texas with the 95th overall pick.
On Saturday, the Steelers selected cornerback Cortez Allen from The Citadel with the 127th overall pick.
Allen stands 6-foot-1-inch tall and weighs 197 pounds.
Cornerback is a position that was a weakness on the NFL's No. 1 scoring defense last season and the Steelers' top player at the position, Ike Taylor, is a free agent.
In the fifth round, the Steelers picked up outside linebacker Christopher Carter from Fresno State with the 162nd overall pick.
He stands at 6-foot-1½-inches tall and weighs 241 pounds.
Carter was the Western Athletic Conference defensive player of the year as a senior after leading the WAC with 11 sacks and 16 1-2 tackles for loss.
In the sixth round, the Steelers took Nebraska offensive guard Keith Williams with the 196th overall pick.
Williams is 6-foot-4-inches tall and weighs 318 pounds.
Williams started 34 games for Nebraska over the past three seasons. While there, he was part of an offense that produced at least 200 rushing yards in 10 of 14 games in 2010.
In the seventh and final round of the draft, the Steelers selected running back Baron Batch out of Texas Tech with the 232nd overall pick.
He is 5-foot-9-inches tall and weighs 202 pounds.
Batch ranks eighth on Texas Tech's career rushing list with 2,501 yards, and is ninth in all-purpose yards with 3,612.
