New Whole Foods Market Opens To Shoppers In Wexford

WEXFORD (KDKA) -- Shoppers in the North Hills now have another option when it comes to buying food.

A brand new Whole Foods market on Perry Highway in Wexford officially opened its doors Wednesday morning.

The store was packed for the grand opening.

"After the last two months of getting the store ready, it's wonderful to be open and to be able to offer the highest quality natural and organic foods available," said Casey Dill, the store's team leader.

The 34,000-square foot facility is filled with all types of food. There's also a bakery, an old-fashioned butcher and a place to grab a quick lunch or dinner.

"We have a wonderful prepared foods department with chefs that are here daily hand-making things that you can see either on the hot bar or on the platter bar, on our salad bar, or in our chef case," said Dill.

"I think that their products are superior, the environment here is different than a normal grocery store, everyone is pretty upbeat and they are a great company," said customer Amber Croce, of Gibsonia.

Customers say the coffee bar and pub is one of the highlights of the store. You can pretty much order anything from a hot chocolate to local beer and even wine.

"I think it's a beautiful store," said Zach Johns, of West Mifflin. "I think they did a nice job; I love the pub with the reclaimed wood."

The building was constructed with the environment in mind. It's made up of recycled materials from top to bottom.

Outside of the store, there are two electric car charging stations, which are free for customers.
