New PNC, Chase ATMs Dispense Exact Dollar Amounts
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – If you've ever been frustrated that you can't take out a specific amount of money at an ATM, you're in luck.
PNC and Chase are currently rolling out ATMs where you'll be able to take out the exact amount of cash you want.
Tiffany Kowalecki has been a PNC Bank customer since she was 16-years-old.
However, today's transaction was a more enjoyable one after learning that she can now take out exact amounts.
"I always make $1 purchases all the time, like drinks. So, it kind of works out. I don't ever overdraw my account. I know what I get. I'm actually kind of excited about it," Kowalecki said.
Other customers at the Banksville PNC Branch were also happy about the change. It's a small detail they claim will help make life's tasks a little easier.
"I think it's great to be able to get smaller denominations of money out," Jacob Nixon said.
"I really don't want to get $30, but I want more than $20 so I'll get $25," Mary Dabat said.
At least one customer was indifferent to the new ATM.
"That's what I'm trying to figure out, why it's so cool. I don't know, for tip money," Chuck Keller said.
PNC has worked over the past year to convert more than half of its 7,200 ATMs to dispense $1s and $5s.
The rest that don't will be done by the end of the summer.
Chase Bank is also taking part by rolling out between 350 to 400 ATMs over the past 18 months. Money analysts said being able to get out $1s and $5s can help consumers keep their account in the black.
The changes are free to PNC and Chase bank customers. The same out of network fees apply to non-customers.
