New Pens Forward Steve Sullivan Discusses Expectations
PITTSBURGH (Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN) -- New Penguin Forward Steve Sullivan joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about going from Nashville to Pittsburgh and what his expectations are for the upcoming season.
Right off the bat, Steve told us that his history with Pens GM Ray Shero and knowing him from their time together in Nashville was a huge help in getting him to Pittsburgh.
The free agency period opened at noon last Friday and Steve said they received their first call from the Pens right around that time, talked with his family about it and accepted the offer shortly there after. Steve also talked with Head Coach Dan Bylsma before signing with the team and was sold on the system they run and the role he'll be playing in it.
Steve had a few other offers on the table, but none from teams that presented him with as good of a chance to win a Stanley Cup as the Penguins do.
Steve also addressed the injury issues surrounding him and said he doesn't anticipate them being a problem in the upcoming season.
Given that the Penguins have a lack of top 6 right wingers, Steve filled us in on his experience playing on the right win and his strengths that he'll bring this team, speed being possibly his greatest strength,
We wrapped things up with Steve having him tell us a little bit about a conversation he had with Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby shortly after signing with the team.
