New Home Takes Shape For Butler Co. Couple
CALLERY BOROUGH (KDKA) -- A Butler County couple is getting a fresh start.
Ed and Judy Conway live in Callery Borough, Butler County.
Their home of more than 20 years burned down on July 27th.
"The morning I watched the house burn down and then we lost everything that we had, I really in my heart – I just stood there and I thought, you know, 'This may be enough to do her in,'" Ed Conway said. "I didn't know how much more she could take."
Judy Conway has had multiple medical problems from a heart attack to cancer to hip surgery.
Thanks to local business, the couple is getting a new home.
"This is just beautiful what's being done for us," Judy said.
84 Lumber donated close to $90,000 and other companies offered their services to make life easier for Judy.
"We widened some of the doors, we changed the bathrooms around a little bit," Dave Fisher, with 84 Lumber, said. "The hallway was a little bit wider so we could get the wheelchair down through there and certainly the ramps out front – there's no steps or anything she'll have to worry about."
The target date for move-in is October 20th.
