New Food, Merchandise To Debut At PNC Park

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Pirates broke the streak of losing seasons last year and made it to the playoffs.

Now, the Pirates are preparing to do even better this time around and that includes improving the fan experience inside PNC Park.

The Pirates have been planning and developing new food and merchandise options for fans.

One of the new food items is "tatchos."

"We developed a concept of tatchos. Its tater tots turned into nachos. We've got chili and cheese on top, a little sour cream and some chives," Aramark General Manager Steve Musciano said.

Another new sandwich at the ballpark is called, "The Closer."

"We have nine cheeses, four slices of bread, four slices of house-smoked honey bacon and our house-made chips," Musciano said.

If you're looking for something a little more upscale, the Pirates have you covered with a lobster BLT.

"We brought on a chef from Boston. Why wouldn't we bring the lobster along with him?" Musciano said.

There's also a wide variety of sandwiches and steak at the Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club.

BRGR is opening its newest location inside of PNC Park too.

Fans will be treated to a few of the restaurant's gourmet burgers and milkshake options. However, the Abso-bac'n-lutely burger will be exclusive to PNC Park.

As far as some new merchandise options, Under Armour has stepped up with some apparel for women.

"You know what is great? They've added a lot of our new items, Under Armour is a new brand that MLB added. We have everything from ladies to kids items and the ladies items are all form-fitted. In our retail store, you can find a nice ladies section, very well laid out, very large," Musciano said.

Customization is going to be big this year too. You'll be able to customize ball caps, jerseys, etc.
