New Collaborative Effort Hopes To Boost Job Growth
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - With the introduction of a new collaborative effort, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl hopes to expand the city as a leader in technology and economic growth.
Pittsburgh has proven itself to the country as a leader having recently received a $2 million grant from the Obama Administration.
Now, Mayor Ravenstahl wants to build on that success.
Efforts from Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, the city and other economic organizations have combined to form Power Up Pittsburgh.
It is a group that will be dedicated to building the city as a leader in technology and job growth.
"These challenged neighborhoods that haven't seen investment and have seen places close perhaps, potentially be a location for this work," Mayor Ravenstahl said.
The mayor, joined with Power Up Pittsburgh sponsors, could not specifically outline the work that will be done, but stressed it will be focused on creating sustainable jobs and growing the economy.
"Really become whatever it is we want it to be. As hard as we're willing to work, as creative as we can be," Mayor Ravenstahl said.
Power Up Pittsburgh also hopes to have a more organized effort to help companies apply for numerous federal programs and grants.
