Neil Walker's One Year Anniversary
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Today marks Neil Walker's one year anniversary of getting recalled from AAA Indianapolis. Look what he's accomplished since arriving to Pittsburgh.
It's pretty sad to think that if Andy LaRoche and Aki Iwamura hadn't gotten hurt and performed so poorly last season, we might not be watching Walker with the Pirates.
I'll never forget that GM Neal Huntington refered to Walker as a role player and questioned his long-term future with the team.
I have a hard time getting past that but everyone makes mistakes.
Take a look at the stats Walker has put up since being recalled from the minors one-year ago.
*Walker is tied for 10th in the National League in RBI (96)
*Is tied for 4th in the National League in doubles (40)
*Walker leads all NL 2nd baseman in both of those categories
*Has hit .290 over the past year
