Neighbors Stunned After Man's Arrest For Child Pornography
MONROEVILLE (KDKA) - According to county investigators, Duane Amity had thousands of alleged offensive images on his computer inside his Monroeville home. Many depicted girls between the ages of 2 and 10.
On Blair Crest Drive there's a sign that says they look out for the safety of kids.
So, news of what Amity is accused of hit the neighborhood hard.
Did you just see my eyes? I'm totally shocked with that comment," Ed Bihary, a neighbor, said.
County detectives and the FBI arrested and charged the BNY Mellon computer security executive with multiple counts of possession of child pornography.
"If he has problem, I'm not unaware of them and probably everyone else in the neighborhood," Bihary said. "You [have to] know that you could be vulnerable to getting busted."
Amity told investigators he never shared or distributed the images and didn't know how files were still on his computer.
He said he'd download images, then delete them, but viewed the files on for his own benefit.
He also said he never touched a child in a sexual way and admitted he had a problem and needed help.
"I would say that he's probably addicted and in the grasp of something that he can't control," Bihary said.
A BNY Mellon source indicated that no offensive material was discovered on any of their systems.
Amity remains free on $25,000 bond.
