Neighbors Hold Would-Be Burglar At Gunpoint
UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A Washington County man is facing charges after an attempted burglary in Union Township.
Jed Shoemaker, 34, is charged with prowling at night and possessing instruments of crime.
He was lurking outside of a house on Route 88, crowbar in hand, when he was spotted by two neighbors.
They approached him, armed with a pistol and shotgun.
The pair held Shoemaker at gunpoint until police arrived.
Southwest Regional Police say this well within their legal rights, but confrontations like these should not be taken lightly.
Jim Cain, one of the men who stopped the burglary, says the message is clear: don't burglarize homes in his neighborhood.
He has stopped two other crimes in the past and has no plans of backing down.
