NBC's Eddie Olczyk: Pens Have Positives From Game 1
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Former Penguins head coach and current NBC NHL analyst Eddie Olczyk checks in with Vinnie & Cook on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.
He looks back at the Penguins' loss to the Boston Bruins in Game 1, and he previews Monday night's matchup in Game 2.
When he takes a look at the Pens' performance in Game 1, Olczyk says, "They played a good game in stretches. I think they created enough chances, they hit a couple of posts. I think there a lot of positives to build off for the Penguins, but, the question is can the Penguins defend enough."
Olczyk was surprised to see the Penguins stars getting involved in the scrum that ended the second period in Game 1.
"There is no question in my mind that Dan Bylsma and his staff have emphasized to his team since last year: 'we can't have our star players spending five minutes in the penalty box,'" Olczyk says. "When those guys are engaged in that kind of activity, it's going to take away from what they do best. It's proven that the Penguins can't win that way, especially when their big guys are in the middle of it."
Olczyk also offers up his keys to solving Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, and weighs in on the Pens' goalie situation. For more, listen to the entire interview below:
