NBA Draft Expert Chris Monter: Pitt's Steven Adams Has Value
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Could Pitt's Steven Adams be a one-and-done player after all? Chris Monter of College Basketball News and Monter Draft News joins Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan's Vinnie & Cook to discuss whether Adams is potentially ready to make the leap to the pros this year.
Even before he enrolled at Pitt, Adams has been on Monter's radar. But is Adams NBA-ready right now?
"He's definitely got the potential to be a first-round pick, and if he can continue to improve, his stock can only go higher," Monter says. "You definitely look at him as a player with outstanding potential. I would love to see him stay at least for one more year, but a seven-footer with his skills is going to attract a lot of attention from NBA people."
The way Monter sees it, Adams' choice is to stay in college and continue to play, or to go the pros and sit on a bench while he develops.
Monter says if it were up to him, "I'd want to be ready to stick with an NBA team [before jumping to the pros]. That's why I always figure another year of college isn't going to hurt a player. I think it's going to help his development and make him more NBA-ready when he does make that jump to the league."
