Multiple People Rescued From North Side Fire
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Responders were on the scene of a fire on the North Side.
It started at a home in the 100-block of Maywood Avenue.
The fire was small in size, but created a lot of smoke.
Officials say that two women were rescued from the building.
"I just started screaming and screaming -- especially for my sister because I knew she was on the third floor, so I just began to scream, scream her name and I ran outside," said the sister of one of the women, Michelle Greer.
Greer's sister and niece had to be rescued from the roof on the third floor. The height of the home made it difficult for firefighters to access them.
"Because of the hillside down below there, it increases the length of the ladder necessary for you to reach them," said Pittsburgh Deputy Fire Chief Michael Mullen.
The two women saved from the fire were taken to the hospital.
However, Greer says she's just happy that everyone was saved and the fire was small.
