Mt. Washington Man Facing Charges In Multiple Robberies

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Mount Washington man is behind bars today facing charges in a Wednesday afternoon bank robbery in Oakland.

Pittsburgh police say 54-year-old Thomas Doyle was taken into custody along Allen and Eureka Streets in Pittsburgh's Allentown neighborhood.

Doyle is facing four counts of robbery. Police say he is accused in an Oct. 18 robbery at the Subway on Brownsville Road, the Feb. 9 robbery at the Bailey Avenue CoGo's and the Feb. 11 robbery at the Virginia Avenue CoGo's – both in Mount Washington – and Wednesday's robbery at the Parkvale Bank on Forbes Avenue.

Officers were called to the bank just before 4 p.m.

According to police, a bank employee reported that the suspect came to the window and passed a note that demanded money. The suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Authorities say no gun was seen during the incident.

Police say another bank employee reported seeing the suspect get into a maroon-colored jeep on Semple Street.

After reviewing surveillance video, police say they were able to identify the suspect and track Doyle down in Allentown. Police also found the vehicle he got away in, which they say was stolen in Crafton.

Police say there are also warrants pending against Doyle from the police departments in Crafton and Upper St. Clair. Also, there are charges pending against him by the McKees Rocks Police Department.

Doyle is being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
