Mt. Lebanon Fireworks Show Moved To Cemetery
MOUNT LEBANON (KDKA) – The annual Fourth of July fireworks show in Mount Lebanon was moved to a cemetery Wednesday night.
The borough decided on the Mount Lebanon Cemetery because the usual spot was not viable due to construction.
Several blocks of Washington Road were closed so people could set up chairs and watch from the streets.
Access roads were blocked in several sections of the Mount Lebanon Cemetery in advance of the show.
"It's a little weird, but I guess you have to do what you have to do," one woman said.
"I think probably most of the people that were there when they were alive really enjoyed fireworks, who doesn't?" another woman said.
The cemetery was selected because the traditional July 4th location – Mount Lebanon High School – is a construction zone.
"I think we always need to be respectful of the dead, there's no question about that. But, there's no disrespect intended here from my perspective," one man said.
The fireworks display lasted for about 30 minutes.
