"Mr. High School Sports" - WPIAL Campers Learn from Revis
By Matt Popchock
On Thursday youth in the greater Aliquippa area got to learn how to play the game that put the Quips on the map from one of its most famous alumni. On the second day of the first-ever Darrelle Revis Skills and Drills Clinic, a couple present-day WPIAL stars got their turn.
Aliquippa wide receiver Hassahn Thompson won the 40-yard dash tournament held at the end of the second camp session at Carl Aschman Stadium with a time of 4.66 seconds, though Central Valley receiver/defensive back Jordan Whitehead owned the best winning time of any heat at 4.53.
They got to fine-tune their skills under the tutelage of Revis and such other celebrity coaches as Ty Law, Larry Fitzgerald, and defensive backs Darius Butler and Major Wright of the Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears, respectively. Kids ages 14 and over worked on route-running, lateral movement, and fumble drills, among other things.
Thanks to our friends at Rubino Productions, you can check out what they had to say about Friday's activities:
Check back later for a very special interview with Revis himself.
