"Mr. High School Sports" - Omogrosso Swaps Yellow Socks for White Sox

Remember the young man who nearly pitched Blackhawk to a Class AAA WPIAL Baseball Championship victory over Mount Lebanon at PNC Park? He's come a long way.
How long? He spent the eve of his holiday at U.S. Cellular Field on the mound for the final out against the American League champions.
With any luck, he'll return to 115 Federal Street for interleague play sometime soon.
Brian Omogrosso, wearing No. 48 for the Chicago White Sox, made his major league debut in Tuesday's 19-2 bashing of the Texas Rangers. Omogrosso gave up one of those two earned runs, but he also lasted the final 1 2/3 innings and collected his first big-league strikeout by fanning second baseman Alberto Gonzalez for the second out of the eighth inning.

He was taken by the Sox in the sixth round of the 2006 entry draft, and although injuries have held him back, he's done some nice yeoman's work in Triple-A Charlotte prior to his call-up. In over 20 appearances for that team in 2012, Omogrosso has recorded 40 strikeouts against just six walks, and picked up a couple saves.
On a related note, keep your eye on another Blackhawk alumnus who has a chance to pitch in the A.L. in the future. Adam Liberatore has his own bullpen gig with Double-A Montgomery of the Southern League, which is in the Tampa Bay Rays' system. Liberatore, at last glance, has seven saves and an ERA under 3.00 with that club.
