Motorcycle Crash Backs Up Traffic On Turnpike

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Emergency crews were called to an accident involving two motorcycles along the Pennsylvania Turnpike this afternoon.

According to Turnpike officials, the crash happened on the westbound side of the road in Indiana Township near the Gibsonia Road overpass.

State police say 10 bikers were riding in a group when one of the bikers tried to pass everyone, causing the crash.

Two of the bikers were hurt. One was thrown from his motorcycle and rolled on the pavement.

"One was flown to Presbyterian Hospital, critical condition, head injuries and Allegheny General Hospital the patient was transported via ambulance there," Trooper Mike Corna said. "No word on him, but nothing life threatening for either of the individuals."

The biker who caused the accident wasn't hurt. Members of the group are from the Harrisburg area and Virginia. They were headed to New Castle.

No word if there will be any charges.
