Mother Of Homicide Victim Relates To Current Violence In City
PITTSBURGH (NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA) -- Ten years ago, 22-year-old Robert Dixon was murdered when four bullets tore through his body.
Now, every story about another victim of violence in Pittsburgh brings back tearful memories for his mother, Valerie Dixon.
Ever since that day, Valerie has worked to stop the violence and assist other families of victims.
The latest round of homicides makes her work even more important today.
She joined KDKA AM's Larry Richert to talk about her experience helping others through tragedy, as well as what can be done to stop the current violence.
"It has to be a group effort from all segments of our society to end these killings... to stop the guns flowing into our community like water," said Dixon.
