Mother Of Attempted Carjacking, Stabbing Suspect Speaks Out

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Toni Means of Hazelwood says if her son, Dquay, wanted to get a car, "we have cars in our family. A nice, fine car - he could [drive] that."

Means spoke out in defense of her 26-year-old son who is now jailed on charges - including attempted homicide - in connection with the weekend stabbing and attempted carjacking of 23-year-old Pittsburgh Steeler Mike Adams.

Means told KDKA's Ralph Iannotti: "Dquay is an aspiring rapper. That was his dream, his heart. The carjacking just didn't sound like my son."

Means said her son has three young daughters, and she thought his decisions were better and wiser than what [police] are saying about the one he allegedly made over the weekend on the South Side.

Michael Paranay, 25, is also charged in the Adams' attack.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh police are continuing their manhunt for a third suspect in the case, identified as 26-year-old Jerrell Whitlock.

Means says people should wait to judge her son until all the facts in the case come out.
