Mother Claims 2 Masked Men Broke Into Home, Stole Medication

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) - A young mother with lupus claims two masked men broke into her apartment and stole her medication.

Not only is she frightened for her and her children's safety, necessary medication was stolen during the break-ins.

"This part right here. And all they did was reach and they were able to unlock the front door," she said.

Ericka, a 29-year-old mother to twin girls, showed KDKA-TV's Heather Abraham where two masked men broke in last week.

"All I heard was this loud bang. Two guys came in, their faces were covered and one of them had a gun," she said.

The woman said the gun was pointed at her while the demands were made and then at her 8-year-old daughter.

"She came out of the room and said 'Mommy, what was that?' And he turned and pointed the gun at her and told her to go the [expletive] back in her room," she said.

Ericka says they took a backpack and prescription pills.

"My pain pills, my steroids," she said. "I have lupus. I also suffer from depression and I'm an asthmatic. So, I really need those medications."

The mother has moved out of the apartment and only a few belongings remain because she is scared of another break-in. She said the week before someone broke in and also took medication when she wasn't home.

Wilkinsburg Police are looking into the incidents.

"They did come looking for her boyfriend because they told her that they did know who her boyfriend was. The detectives want to find out if her boyfriend has anything to do with this home invasion," Wilkinsburg Police Chief Ophelia Coleman said.

Police said they still need to do follow-up interviews, but are having a tough time contacting the woman for additional questioning.
