More Than 50 Arrest Warrants Issued For Drug Bust In Pitcairn

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Allegheny County Police Department held a news conference Friday afternoon to announce the results of a recent narcotics round up.

The large narcotics bust comes after a 10-month long investigation in the Borough of Pitcairn.

The Allegheny County Police Narcotics Unit has issued more than 50 arrest warrants and many were served Friday morning.

Thirty-seven men and 14 women are accused of selling drugs to undercover officers over a nine-month period.

Twenty-nine suspects have already been arrested.

"We bought every type of drug you could possibly name, from prescription drugs, to heroine, to crack cocaine, and powdered cocaine," Allegheny County Police Superintendent Charles Moffatt says.

The investigation and arrests came after residents of Pitcairn complained to police about rampant drug activity and other related crimes.

Police say that there have been numerous burglaries and thefts in connection with the narcotic use.

"We made at least three buys off of each individual. These were all street-level drug dealer," Moffatt says.

Police say all of the sales were made on the streets or in homes in Pitcairn.

Some of the suspects are said to be from Monroeville, Turtle Creek, McKeesport and Elizabeth.

Anyone with information on any of the suspects is asked to call police.
