Prosecution's Last Witness Testifies In Sandusky Trial
BELLEFONTE (KDKA) -- The last of the alleged victims testified in the child sexual abuse case of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky in Centre County.
The jury heard this morning from alleged Victim 3, who is now a sergeant in the Army National Guard. He testified that he was abused and is now enraged and hurt about what happened to him when he was about 11- or 12-years-old.
This afternoon, an Attorney General investigator testified that he clarified the date of Mike McQueary's alleged witnessing of a sex act in the shower with a young boy.
Anthony Sassano testified that McQueary said he was watching the football movie "Rudy" on television. The agent bought TV Guide publications for a number of months and narrowed the date the movie aired to Feb. 9, 2001.
There had been a discrepancy about the date McQueary witnessed the alleged event.
Also on the stand today was alleged Victim 6, who is now 25 and a recent graduate of a Bible college, testified that he was uncomfortable when Sandusky urged him to take a shower with him in 1998.
They had a workout on the Penn State campus but the witness said: "My immediate thought was, I'm not even sweaty."
He said at age 11 he had never been naked in a shower with anyone else. Once in the shower, he said Sandusky urged him to move closer to him.
"He started to tickle me. He said he was the tickle monster and tickled me underneath my arms and on my chest area. Then, he grabbed me in a bear hug. I saw his chest hair next to my face and I thought, 'this is icky.' Then, he put his hands around my waist and lifted me to the shower head to get the shampoo out of my hair. Everything else I just blacked out."
When he got home he told his mother the reason why his hair was wet was because he took a shower with Sandusky. She became alarmed and called University Police. That launched an investigation that resulted in no charges being filed.
The witness testified that at the time, he thought his mother was making a big deal out of it and didn't want to get Sandusky in trouble. He continued to go to games and get tickets from Sandusky.
On cross examination, the defense showed that as recently as 2009, he sent Sandusky a Thanksgiving message which he also sent to a number of others which read, "I'm glad God has placed you in my life."
Defense attorney Joe Amendola asked if financial gain motivated him to testify against Sandusky. The witness denied it.
Then Amendola asked: "What changed between that Thanksgiving message and now?"
The witness responded: "I quickly realized my perception changed as an adult as opposed to an 11-year-old."
After more questions about that from the prosecutor, the witness said: "I feel violated. I've gone through a lot of emotional roller coasters since then."
The last of the prosecution's witnesses testified Thursday. The trial will resume on Monday.
