MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Police have arrested a suspect after a stabbing in Moon Township left one man dead.
According to police, officers were called to a home along McKinney Drive around 10:45 p.m. Monday.
When they arrived, they found a 48-year-old Thomas Garner suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died overnight.
"He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his wounds," said Lt. Andrew Schurman, of the Allegheny County Homicide Unit.
Detectives said Garner lived at the home alone and they believe he knew the suspect.
Neighbors said they did not hear the exchange, but watched as detectives filled the street throughout the course of the night.
"I had seen that there were people out here, investigators, and there was all kind of crime scene tape so I figured something had happened. I just didn't know what," said Karly Swedish, a woman who works at a home down the street.
The victim is the one who called 911 to report the incident. He told dispatchers he pulled out a gun and shot at the suspect.
About 15 minutes later, police were called to the CVS on Chestnut Street for a report of an armed robbery in the parking lot.
When police arrived, they found 34-year-old Timothy Pauley suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. He told police he had been robbed and shot in the parking lot. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
During the course of their investigation, police determined Pauley was responsible for stabbing Garner.
An arrest warrant was obtained and he is being charged with homicide, tampering with evidence and making false reports to law enforcement.
When he is released from the hospital, he will be transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
