Montreal's Subban Fined For 'Dangerous Trip' On Kunitz
NEW YORK (KDKA) – The National Hockey League has fined Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban following an incident in Friday night's game.
In the third period, Chris Kunitz was racing for a puck in the Montreal end with Subban in close pursuit.
As they got close to the puck, Subban tripped Kunitz with his skate, which sent him crashing awkwardly into the boards.
No penalty was assessed on the play and Kunitz was able to remain in the game.
According to a TSN report, the NHL fined Subban $2,500 for the "dangerous trip" on Saturday.
The fine is the maximum allowed under the current collective bargaining agreement.
Pittsburgh rallied from two goals down in the third period and eventually won 5-4 in the shootout.
They will put their five-game winning streak on the line Sunday when they host the Washington Capitals at 12:30 p.m.
