Month Of October Filled With Violent Crime For Jeannette
JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- October has been an especially violent month in the City of Jeannette.
Police have investigated six shootings so far, that have sent at least two people to the hospital.
They have also investigated a robbery and have arrest warrants for the two men responsible.
Two men, 23-year-old Mariell McGowan and 20-year-old Taylor Foster are accused of robbing a woman on N. 2nd Street on Sunday. The pair was allegedly seeking revenge for another shooting and are considered armed and dangerous.
Joseph Good, 28, was arrested Saturday on an attempted homicide charge. Police say he tried to shoot a man on Clay Avenue, but forgot to take the safety off of his gun.
Both of those incidents are believed to have stemmed from a shooting last Wednesday at Good's home on S. 7th Street. Three black men reportedly fired four or five shots into the house hitting Mariell McGowan in the right shoulder.
Police believe all of the incidents are drug related. They come during a particularly violent month in the city of Jeannette.
On Oct. 3, a man was shot in the arm after someone fired three shots into his home on N. 2nd Street.
On Oct. 21, three armed men wearing black masks forced their way into a home on S. 6th Street and fired three shots.
Later that same night, a woman's car was shot on N. 2nd Street.
The most recent violence came early Tuesday morning when at least eight shots were fired at 5th and Division streets.
Mayor Robert Carter is pulling out all the stops to put an end to the violence. He has approved overtime for the police department to get the cases solved quickly.
