Monroeville Police Chief Removed From Office

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) -- KDKA has learned that Monroeville Police Chief Kenneth Cole has been removed "without cause."

That announcement comes from the acting Monroeville municipal manager.

Cole came up through the ranks and was named police chief in January of 2010.

Assistant Chief Steven Pascarella will take over as acting chief in place of Cole, our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.

Mayor Greg Erosenko told KDKA-TV News that it's a "sad day in Monroeville when Cole, who has given so many years to the community, is removed from office by an acting manager who is not qualified to be manager."

Municipal manager Jeffrey Silka left just two days before Cole was removed and was given a severance package of $67,592, according to the Post-Gazette.
