Teen Set For Trial In Monroeville Mall Shooting
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Jury selection resumes Tuesday for the trial of a teenager accused of wounding three people- including two bystanders - at a Pittsburgh-area mall last year.
Allegheny County prosecutors say five jurors were chosen Monday for the attempted homicide and aggravated assault trial of 18-year-old Tarod Thornhill in the February 2015 shootings in Macy's at the Monroeville Mall.
Thornhill was 17 when the shooting occurred and his attorney was unsuccessful in trying to move the case to juvenile court, which would only have jurisdiction until he's 21. Instead, he faces potentially decades in prison if convicted.
Police say Thornhill wounded a married couple who were shopping with the gunfire that also wounded a 20-year-old man with whom Thornhill had an altercation earlier that evening.
