Expected Rainfall Closes Mon Wharf
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Mon Parking Wharf is closed to drivers Tuesday because of anticipated flooding.
Tom Green, from the National Weather Service, said, "We'll probably have about two inches of rain."
Roughly 700 people park at the Mon Wharf every day, but they will need to find a new place to park Tuesday. The lot could remain closed for a couple of days, but it depends on the rain.
In addition to the Mon Wharf, the North Shore Riverwalk is expected to take on water, and water could even reach the Tenth Street Bypass later in the week, based on National Weather Service projections.
"We're not expecting flood stage at many places except for Seward and Connellsville," said Green.
The National Weather Service projects minor flooding at both locations, meaning part of Route 56 could see water in Seward and the area around Yough Park in Connellsville could flood, but water should not reach any homes there.
