MLB Writer On Pirates Slide: "A Bit Over Their Heads In First Half Of Season"
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- The National Baseball Editor for SB Nation Rob Neyer joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about the Pirates playoff chances.
We opened things up discussing the Pirates coming down the stretch, and the possibility of them being in over their heads.
While examining the team's slump, we took a look at which players are slumping the most for the Pirates.
Neyer took a look at Andrew McCutchen and said, like the team, McCutchen was in over his head. That being said, Neyer still believes McCutchen is the leading MVP candidate, but that has to do with the lack of competition outside of a surging Buster Posey.
We wrapped things up with Neyer getting his thoughts on the news today that Oakland A's pitcher Bartolo Colon has been suspended 50 games for violating Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
