MLB Draft Expert Previews Pirates Picks
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - The MLB Draft begins tonight. The Pirates hold the No. 8 overall pick, and to preview the Pirates' selections, the Fan Morning Show was joined by MLB.com draft expert, Jonathan Mayo.
Jonathan tells us that this is a good year for the Pirates to not have the top pick in the draft because there is not a clear-cut No. 1 overall selection.
The Pirates' offense has been struggling this season, but don't expect them to look for offense if there is a quality pitcher available. Jonathan tells us that they will pick the best available player with the No. 8 pick.
News broke overnight that the Pirates are going to begin transitioning 2010 second round pick, Stetson Allie to third base. Jonathan says that it is a disappointing turn of events for an organization to give up on a player who can throw the ball 100 mph.
